In the meanwhile I am preparing my first print Foliozine, which I will be sending out to all the people I work with and have worked with the past years.

Industriebank LIOF  is a regional bank and investment company in the beautiful Dutch province of Limburg. For their identity magazine I have made a series of fullpage illustrations. The latest edition of the magazine features a piece on the history and development of industry in Limburg, from agriculture to mining to the development of industries, the car industry in particular, to the development of high-tech systems, innovation, and scientific research at the Maastricht health campus. I chose to picture the history of industry Limburg in a green coloured hill landscape, as that is the first association one has with Limburg.

Thermacare is een produkt dat helpt bij de verlichting van spierpijn, bijvoorbeeld in de rug. Voor gebruik in een campagne voor retail heb ik deze infographic gemaakt. De visual laat zien hoe de spieren in de knoop zitten in de linkerspot, en de werking van de warmtecompressen in het midden.Het beeld is gebruikt in een printcampagne voor retail in Nederland.

Thermacare is a product that relieves backpain. For an advertisement for retail I was asked to make an infographic, a visual that explains the method of action of the thermacare compresses, and shows the comfort of the waistband made of stretch. I visualized the muscle knot on the left spot, blocking the bloodstream, and the glowing heat compresses that will relieve the muscles in the middle. The illustration is used in print media targeting retail.

Rovo (Regionaal Orgaan voor de Verkeersveiligheid in Overijssel) heeft onlangs deze special uitgebracht, die zich richt op de meest kwetsbare doelgroepen in het verkeer. Bijvoorbeeld fietsende middelbare scholieren, jonge bromfietsers, jonge automobilisten en ervaren automibilisten. Elk van deze groepen heeft ander risicogedrag. Zo rijden ervaren automobilisten vaak te hard en veroorzaken oudere fietsers vaak enkelzijdige botsingen, bijvoorbeeld met paaltjes.Voor de cover van deze publicatie in het formaat van een tabloid krant werd mij gevraagd een illustratie te maken die alle belangrijke doelgroepen in 1 illustratie uitbeeldt.

Rovo (Regional organ for traffic safety in the Overijssel province of the Netherlands) has recently published this special targeting the most vulnerable groups in traffic. These include, school-going cyclists, older cyclists of 60 and up, young moped-drivers, young car-drivers and experienced car-drivers. Each group has different risk behaviours, experienced drivers tend to drive too fast and use cellphones whereas older cyclists biggest risk apparently is crashing into lightpoles and other objects. For the cover of this illustration I was asked to make an illustration picturing all these target groups in one image.

I had the pleasure to visit Barcelona late last year with the Dutch Open University, to visit the Spanish/Catalonian Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. As a side project we created this short movie featuring Stuey, the character I created for OU that serves as a mascotte in different publications, cartoons and animations. I worked on this with the talented video guys of worldoutside, it is the first time Stuey is animated in a live-action environment. The movie ‘Studying abroad is an introduction for Dutch students thinking of studying abroad, and focuses on cultural and lingual differences. The vdeo was presented in Eindhoven and Barcelona.

This illustration was published in the opening feature of the labour market special for ‘Technisch Weekblad’ a weekly magazine in tabloid format for engineers. The article was about the trend of combining working and learning for engineers, and how time is the biggest obstacle for working engineers wanting more education. With regards from sunny Amsterdam, where spring has finally arrived!
